Moga, Jan 20: A group of three masked intruders targeted a residence in a posh Moga locality on Tuesday evening, escaping with 25 lakh in cash and significant gold jewelry after a violent confrontation. The suspects gained entry to the home by posing as plumbers while the female occupant was alone.
The situation turned critical when the woman attempted to raise an alarm, leading one of the assailants to attack her with a sharp weapon. Neighbors rushed the victim to the Moga Civil Hospital for emergency treatment after her 13-year-old daughter returned from tuition and alerted the community to the crime.
“The money in the house included earnings from my business and funds borrowed for an imminent land deal,” the victim’s husband stated while describing the loss of the funds intended for a property transaction.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene to find the house ransacked. Early reports indicate the suspects arrived in a Bolero vehicle and restrained the victim before fleeing with the valuables.
Senior police officers confirmed that multiple teams are currently active in the area. Investigators are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to track the vehicle’s movement and identify the suspects involved in the heist.
