Tarn Taran, Feb 9: A preliminary police investigation into the fatal shooting at a law college in Usma village suggests the incident may have been the result of one-sided love. Tarn Taran SSP Surinder Lamba confirmed that both students involved in the tragedy have died, with the accused succumbing to his injuries at the hospital.

The incident occurred when Prince Raj, a first-year law student, entered a classroom and fired a pistol at his classmate, Sandeep Kaur. The attack took place before the start of morning lectures, resulting in Kaur’s immediate death.

“Preliminary police investigation suggests that the horrific incident may have stemmed from an alleged case of one-sided love,” SSP Surinder Lamba said. “The pistol used in the crime has been recovered from the spot.”

The campus was gripped by panic following the gunfire, leading to a swift evacuation of students and the deployment of a heavy police presence. Forensic teams were dispatched to the classroom to gather evidence as authorities turned their attention to how a weapon was brought onto the premises.

“A detailed probe is underway from all angles, including how the accused procured the firearm and how he managed to enter the college premises with a weapon,” the SSP mentioned.

The bodies of both students have been moved for post-mortem examinations. Investigators are currently reviewing campus security protocols and questioning witnesses to determine how the accused bypassed college oversight with a concealed firearm.
