Medical Flight Carrying Seven People Goes Down in Kasaria Panchayat

Ranchi, Feb 23: A Redbird Airways medical evacuation flight crashed in the Chatra district of Jharkhand on Monday evening after disappearing from radar during its journey from Ranchi to Delhi. The Beechcraft C90 aircraft, carrying seven individuals including a patient, a doctor, and two crew members, went down in the Kasaria Panchayat region.

Aviation authorities stated that the flight departed Ranchi at 19:11 IST and maintained initial communication with Kolkata air traffic control. However, all contact was abruptly severed at approximately 19:34 IST. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) noted that radar contact was lost roughly 100 nautical miles southeast of Varanasi, prompting an immediate emergency response.

Local administration teams in Jharkhand were dispatched to the crash site in Kasaria Panchayat to initiate search and rescue operations. Officials declared that the status of the passengers and crew remained unconfirmed as recovery efforts continued late into the night.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has been mobilized to determine the cause of the incident. Authorities affirmed that a specialized team is being sent to the location to begin a comprehensive probe into the circumstances leading to the crash.
