Surrey, Feb 24: Canadian authorities have deported a 22-year-old Punjabi youth, Lovebir Singh, following allegations of his involvement in extortion-related criminal activities. The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has since made the unusual move of releasing Singh’s photograph to the public, seeking further information regarding his associates and conduct during his time in the country.

Singh, a foreign national who arrived in Canada in the fall of 2023, was identified as a suspect in early 2026. Following an investigation by the SPS, findings were shared with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which initiated an immigration inquiry that ultimately led to his removal from the country.

Police officials stated that the public disclosure of Singh’s identity is a necessary step to support broader, ongoing investigations into violent extortion rings. The force maintained that the release of the image is intended to encourage victims or witnesses to come forward with details about the criminal networks operating in the region.

To incentivize cooperation, authorities referred to the Surrey Extortion Reward Fund. Established in September 2025, the fund offers up to $250,000 for information that results in formal charges and convictions in extortion cases.

Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact the SPS or the dedicated Surrey Extortion Tip Line. For those preferring to remain anonymous, reports can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
