CHANDIGARH, March 24 — The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force is scheduled to perform a civil aerial display at Sukhna Lake on March 27 and 28. Entry to the event will be managed through the Chandigarh Tourism app, with passes available starting March 24 for a fee of 100 per person.
Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav stated that the venue capacity is capped at 10,000 attendees per day to ensure public safety. To manage the expected influx of visitors, the administration has prohibited private vehicles in the vicinity of the lake. Seven designated pick-up and drop points will be established across the city, with the final transport services scheduled for 9 am on both days.
During a multi-agency review meeting, Yadav maintained that the event is a matter of prestige for the city and requires seamless inter-departmental coordination. He asserted that meticulous planning regarding crowd management and emergency response mechanisms is essential for a successful conduct of the air show.
Authorities have advised visitors to adhere to specific safety protocols, such as carrying only transparent water bottles and avoiding bringing children under three years of age. The police department has been directed to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan to minimize public inconvenience while ensuring strict security checks remain in place at the venue.
