Chandigarh, April 10: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday said that the Punjab Government is working in close coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs to track and extradite criminals operating from foreign soil. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister affirmed that these sustained diplomatic and legal efforts are successfully dismantling syndicates that manage operations from countries including Canada, Dubai, Portugal, and the United States.
The Chief Minister noted that many gangster networks are not based within Punjab but are instead funding shooters in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to carry out illicit activities. He stated that several such operatives have already been apprehended within Punjab’s borders. Mann declared that the “Gangsters te Vaar” campaign is delivering a decisive blow to organized crime, maintaining that the law and order situation in the state remains stable.
The government’s resolve was recently highlighted by the return of Amritpal Singh Mehron, the primary accused in the Kamal Kaur murder case, from the United Arab Emirates. AAP Punjab General Secretary Baltej Pannu affirmed that the successful deportation of Mehron reflects a zero-tolerance policy against violence. Pannu stated that the influencer was murdered in Bathinda last June, and the police have been consistently pursuing the accused across international borders since the incident.
Pannu asserted that individuals who believe they can escape justice by hiding in other countries are mistaken. He declared that offenders will be traced and brought back to face the law, regardless of where they attempt to hide. The Chief Minister affirmed that Punjab remains a peace-loving state and maintained that his administration is committed to the welfare and security of every citizen.
