CHANDIGARH, April 11 — Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu on Saturday directed sharp criticism at Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, claiming that the healthcare infrastructure in Haryana is currently in a state of crisis. The statement follows warnings from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) regarding the potential suspension of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in private hospitals across Haryana due to significant payment arrears.
Pannu stated that while the Haryana government struggles to maintain existing federal programs, the Bhagwant Mann-led administration in Punjab has implemented the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna,’ providing cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh. He affirmed that this initiative has already covered more than 35 lakh families without the restrictive conditions seen in other jurisdictions.
“The Chief Minister of Haryana perhaps does not realize that treatment under the Ayushman scheme in his state has almost come to a halt,” Pannu asserted. He maintained that rather than commenting on Punjab’s governance, the Haryana leadership should address why private medical facilities are preparing to stop treatments for the poor due to pending government dues.
The Media In-charge declared that Punjab has established a new standard in public service by prioritizing the healthcare sector through Aam Aadmi Clinics and modernized government hospitals. He noted that the success of these policies demonstrates that honest intentions can produce world-class facilities for the general public, contrasting this with what he described as a crumbling system in the neighboring state.
