AMBALA, April 16 — Northern Railway has launched more than 20 special trains within the Ambala Division to address the seasonal surge in passenger traffic. These additional services, which began this month, are scheduled to operate through July to ensure seamless connectivity for travelers during the peak summer vacation period.
The expanded schedule includes several key routes, such as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Special and the Chandigarh-Patna Special, both of which commenced operations on April 16. Other notable services currently in effect include the Haridwar-Bhavnagar and Katihar-Amritsar specials. Railway authorities affirmed that these measures are part of a broader strategy to decrease wait times and alleviate congestion on high-demand lines.
Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Bhatia stated that the deployment of these specials follows a detailed assessment of passenger requirements. “A complete plan for the specials is prepared after analysing the requirement on the basis of waiting lists of the origin and destination stations,” Bhatia affirmed, noting that extra coaches are also being added to existing trains where necessary.
To maintain order at busy stations, the division has activated dedicated teams consisting of Railway Protection Force and commercial branch personnel. Nodal officers have been stationed at major terminals to oversee traffic management and ensure public safety during the busiest travel months.
