AMRITSAR, APRIL 18 — Major breakthrough against narco-terrorism, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) and Counter Intelligence Punjab have dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling module. Officials confirmed on Saturday that two individuals were apprehended in Amritsar district following the recovery of 64.62 kg of heroin.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the operation was carried out by the SSOC, Amritsar, in coordination with Counter Intelligence Punjab. Acting on specific intelligence, police teams intercepted the suspects near village Mahal, where the massive consignment was discovered in their possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the smuggling module had links with foreign-based handlers and Pakistan-based operatives. The DGP maintained that these connections indicate the involvement of an extensive narco-terror network. An FIR has already been registered at the SSOC Police Station in Amritsar to facilitate a deeper probe.

Law enforcement agencies are now working to map the entire supply chain. DGP Gaurav Yadav affirmed that further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network. The state remains on high alert as authorities seek to trace the financial and logistical roots of the operation.
