New Delhi, April 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party escalated its “Sheesh Mahal” campaign against Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, with senior leader Parvesh Verma alleging the Aam Aadmi Party chief is linked to a luxurious property at 95 Lodhi Estate. During a press briefing, Verma presented documents he claimed were interior design blueprints for the residence, asserting the site features high-end decor and customized furniture.
“He did not want an ordinary house, but a lavish one,” Verma declared. He further maintained that the image of Kejriwal as a common man is entirely misleading given the scale of the development. The BJP leader suggested that the residence follows a “contemporary transitional” concept, complete with specialized lounges and meeting rooms.
Verma posed several formal questions regarding the project, specifically inquiring about the total expenditure and the origin of the funds. He asserted that there may be a connection between the property’s development and the proceeds of the now-defunct liquor policy case. Additionally, he stated that the perceived “lavish lifestyle” of the party leadership is causing internal dissent and leading to prominent exits from AAP.
Referring to historical figures, Verma claimed that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh would be ashamed of such conduct. He also noted that while the city faced the Covid-19 crisis, the focus remained on private construction.
Delhi Minister Atishi Marlena dismissed the allegations shortly after the briefing, stating the evidence provided was fabricated. “All the pictures released by Parvesh Verma are fake,” she affirmed. She noted that if the BJP wished to discuss luxury, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and BJP leader Rekha Gupta should open their homes to public scrutiny alongside Kejriwal.
