Amritsar, May 2: International travel from Punjab has received a significant boost as Qatar Airways resumed its daily flight schedule from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport during the final week of April. The airline had previously scaled back its operations to just two flights per week following the closure of Qatari airspace amid the Iran-Israel conflict.

The restored daily service is a vital link for the Punjabi diaspora and travelers heading to destinations in North America and Europe via Doha. According to current scheduling, the inbound flight from Doha arrives in Amritsar at 2:30 a.m., with the departing flight scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Sameep Singh of the “Fly Amritsar Initiative” stated that the return to daily operations will offer substantial benefits to passengers, particularly those traveling to Toronto, Montreal, and various hubs across the United States. He maintained that the frequency of these flights is essential for maintaining seamless global connectivity for the region.

In an effort to accommodate those affected by previous disruptions, Qatar Airways declared that passengers with bookings through October may change their travel dates without incurring a “change fee.” Company officials noted that while the administrative fee is waived, travelers will still be responsible for any applicable fare differences.

The resumption comes as part of a broader recovery for international routes at the airport. Air India Express has also reinstated its daily flights to Sharjah, though services to some Gulf destinations remain inconsistent. Officials affirmed that while most carriers are returning to normal schedules, certain routes like those operated by IndiGo to Sharjah have yet to resume.
