CHANDIGARH, MAY 17— Punjab Police conducted a coordinated state-wide operation on Sunday, executing hundreds of targeted raids and taking hundreds of individuals into custody.
The extensive enforcement drive, operating under the designated “Gangstran Te Vaar” initiative, marks a major milestone in the state’s long-term strategy to dismantle criminal networks and neutralize active gang associations across all districts.
State security officials noted that the synchronized operations were completed smoothly through deep tactical coordination between local district police units and specialized units. According to reports from the police headquarters, specialized units working alongside district teams carried out 573 separate raids at meticulously mapped locations linked to known criminal syndicates. The multi-district sweep resulted in the arrest of 279 individuals, while security forces successfully recovered three illegal weapons during the operations.
Senior administrative officers affirmed that the security framework relies heavily on structured data analysis and community participation to identify potential risk zones. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the ongoing campaign remains a decisive and sustained effort to establish a safe environment throughout the state. He noted that the operational mechanics ensure thorough processing, adding that while hundreds have been detained under strict statutory parameters, a small group of individuals were safely verified and released immediately following preliminary questioning.
The state’s current enforcement metrics reflect a highly intensified approach toward maintaining regional stability and public order. Security coordinators asserted that specialized teams also managed to apprehend eight long-term proclaimed offenders who had previously evaded law enforcement tracking. The administration maintained that the security infrastructure will continue to execute similar proactive field operations uniformly across urban and rural sectors to prevent the proliferation of organized crime groups.
