Slovakia, June 16: India and Slovakia have officially elevated their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive partnership, signing 11 strategic agreements to expand mutual cooperation across defence, digital technology, and migration. The diplomatic milestone was established during a historic weeklong European tour by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the very first time an Indian premier has visited the central European nation.
To mark the significance of the visit, Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini presented Prime Minister Modi with The Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class) during an official state ceremony held in Bratislava. The prestigious decoration stands as the highest civilian and military state honour that Slovakia reserves exclusively for foreign nationals, representing the 33rd international accolade conferred upon the Prime Minister.
The Ministry of External Affairs affirmed that the bilateral agreements reflect a shared vision for deeper economic and technological integration. Commenting on the strategic transition, the Prime Minister stated, “This recognition is a testament to the warmth, trust, and affection uniting the peoples of India and Slovakia.”
The Prime Minister declared that the honour truly belongs to the 1.4 billion citizens of India rather than any single individual. In a public message sharing his gratitude with the host nation, he dedicated the historic decoration to the enduring friendship between the two democratic countries.
Administration representatives asserted that the freshly signed treaties will lay down a robust framework for long-term industrial and security collaboration. The Prime Minister maintained that the upgraded relationship and national recognition would serve to inspire future generations in both countries to continue nurturing their special bond.
