Badagaon, June 25: A long-standing family dispute over property culminated in tragedy when a 75-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his grandson in Badagaon village. The local police have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the accused, who fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Darshan Singh, while the suspect has been identified as his grandson, Sonu. According to law enforcement officials, tension had been brewing within the family for a considerable period regarding the division of land, which is maintained as the primary motive behind the fatal confrontation.
The incident unfolded around noon when Sonu arrived at his grandfather’s residence to confront him about the ongoing property matter. Local residents reported hearing loud arguments and shouting emanating from the house. As the verbal altercation escalated, Darshan Singh stepped outside toward a nearby livestock rearing plot. It was at this juncture that Sonu allegedly produced a firearm and fired upon his grandfather, causing him to collapse on the spot.
A police team, led by DSP Indri Satish Kumar Gautam along with a forensic expert, arrived at the location shortly after receiving information. They secured the crime scene and gathered vital evidence, while the body was taken into custody for a post-mortem examination.
Confirming the development, DSP Indri Gautam declared that a formal case has been registered against the suspect.
“We have constituted multiple teams to nab the accused and are conducting raids at various locations. The accused will be arrested soon,” the senior officer asserted.
