Patiala, July 1: The Nabha Municipal Council passed a key resolution today to provide direct financial compensation to thirteen local residents who were injured in stray dog attacks. Meeting under the guidelines established by the High Court, the local body cleared the individual relief packages during its inaugural session to address growing public safety concerns within the municipality.
The civic body confirmed that each identified victim will receive ten thousand rupees as part of the unified relief package. Senior Vice President Harpreet Singh, who presided over the session, stated that the house has unanimously approved this compensation sought by the thirteen victims to ensure immediate relief. Administrative representatives affirmed that the individual payouts align strictly with regional animal welfare policies and judicial directives aimed at supporting citizens affected by stray animal conflicts.
Alongside the relief measures, the local assembly cleared a massive infrastructure package worth ninety-six lakh rupees for the comprehensive reconstruction of the commercial road stretching between Duladi Gate and the Alouharan Gate Market. The funding allocation follows months of sustained civic protests by regional shopkeepers and residents who had halted local sewerage works to demand proper transport links. Council officials declared that the freshly passed resolution fulfills a binding commitment made during previous public coordination meetings to fix the damaged thoroughfare immediately.
The decision-making process moved forward smoothly despite substantial political absenteeism during the council’s maiden assembly. More than half of the elected representatives, including Municipal Council President Jagdeep Singh Khanna, were absent from the floor because the formal notification regarding the presidency has not been officially issued yet. Local organizers maintained that despite the thin attendance, the necessary administrative quorum was fully met, allowing all listed development and welfare proposals to pass without opposition.
