Shimla, July 4: Eight districts across Himachal Pradesh are bracing for extended spells of precipitation following a fresh yellow alert issued by the State Meteorological Centre on Saturday. The weather tracking body warned that atmospheric instability will bring scattered downpours to the hill state.
The advisory spans several key regions, including Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Chamba, and Lahaul and Spiti. Residents in these locations can expect light to moderate rainfall alongside turbulent wind patterns over the next 24 hours.
Forecasters affirmed that the precipitation will be interspersed with lightning strikes and sharp, gusty winds at isolated spots. A spokesperson from the weather department stated that despite the ongoing rains, the minimum temperatures across the state are projected to remain stable and near normal parameters for this time of the year.
Thermal readings across the towns revealed varying conditions, with Kukumseri emerging as the coldest pocket at 11.2 degrees Celsius. According to official data, the minimum temperature reached 18.4 degrees Celsius in the capital city of Shimla, while the tourist destinations of Manali and Dharamshala logged 17.2 degrees Celsius and 20.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
