Anandpur Sahib, July 13: A sudden fire destroyed thirteen temporary tents pitched for devotees in Agampur village near Anandpur Sahib on Monday morning. The accommodations were established under the state government’s Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme to assist visitors traveling to the holy town.

A significant crisis was avoided because the residents had departed the structures roughly thirty minutes before the flames erupted around 9 am. Emergency responders and local authorities arrived quickly at the Ropar district site, managing to contain the blaze before it could reach the remaining portion of the camp.

Anandpur Sahib SDM Sukhpal Singh confirmed the safety of all individuals present at the location. “There was no loss of life or injuries in the fire,” the official declared while discussing the initial response efforts.

Out of nearly 250 tents set up to support the state-sponsored pilgrimage programme, only a small fraction was affected. The administrative team is looking into the situation to safeguard the camp. “The preliminary assessment suggested that the blaze might have been caused by an electrical short circuit,” Sukhpal Singh asserted, adding that a detailed inquiry will establish the definitive cause.
