Thane, July 29: Maharashtra’s Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary established the country’s first artificial intelligence-powered bird monitoring facility on Wednesday, upgrading regional conservation infrastructure through automated technology.
The facility utilizes high-definition optical sensors alongside custom algorithmic software to track avian movements, species populations, and local habitat conditions across the wetland ecosystem.
Environmental officials stated that the installation addresses critical observation challenges posed by shifting tides and vast wetland expanses, offering continuous digital monitoring without disturbing local fauna.
“Uses Artificial Intelligence for bird monitoring,” wildlife project managers declared while explaining the automated system’s capabilities during its initial operational briefing. They maintained that real-time data collection will significantly assist sanctuary administrators in evaluating seasonal migration patterns.
Forest department leadership affirmed that automated tracking supports broader habitat protection measures and ensures earlier detection of environmental changes within protected marine zones.
