Ranchi, July 31: The Jharkhand Police Special Branch has issued a statewide security advisory across all districts following reports of intensifying student demonstrations over alleged irregularities and corruption in competitive examinations held by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. Intelligence inputs indicate that candidate groups and political outfits are planning widespread agitations, including sit-in demonstrations, march programs, indefinite hunger strikes starting August 2, and a planned siege of the Jharkhand Assembly on August 6 during the upcoming Monsoon Session.
In a confidential directive sent to all deputy commissioners, senior superintendents, railway police, and field officials, the Special Branch instructed local law enforcement to maintain high vigilance and deploy adequate forces at sensitive spots. Officials anticipate hundreds of examinees to arrive in Ranchi via rail and road networks, with additional support likely from private coaching hubs.
The alert comes in the backdrop of an ongoing satyagraha that commenced on July 25 outside Bapu Vatika at Morhabadi Ground. Around 50 to 60 aspirants led by student leader Dinbandhu Mahato and JLKM leader Devendra Mahato are spearheading the movement. Demonstrators are demanding a comprehensive probe into exam malpractices, strict penalty for guilty officials, faster recruitment timelines, and greater operational transparency. On July 29, aspirants carried out a foot march to Parmveer Albert Ekka Chowk, where participants collectively recited the Preamble to the Constitution and sang the National Anthem.
