At least 384 travelers, including 105 Indian nationals and 37 Non-Resident Indians, have been listed as missing following a severe flash flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district. The preliminary list issued by the Nepal Tourism Board includes 291 foreign nationals alongside 93 Nepali citizens, marking Indian travelers as the largest group among missing foreign nationals.
Addressing the situation, official representatives stated that authorities are working relentlessly to establish contact with affected groups. Tourism Board officials affirmed that the published list remains preliminary and subject to verification, maintaining that joint search and trace operations are underway in close coordination with travel agencies, local authorities, and security personnel. Officials asserted that families should await official updates while verification processes continue across the affected terrain.
The missing travelers were associated with 10 major travel and trekking agencies operating in the region, including Trekkers Society, Samrat Tours & Travels, Leaf Holiday, and Himalayan Glacier. Other foreign nationals identified on the list include citizens of Australia, the Netherlands, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.
To assist stranded tourists and concerned relatives, local authorities have issued emergency helplines while directing travelers in the region to follow official safety advisories. Officials declared that the Tourist Police, security forces, and administrative personnel maintain continuous presence on the ground to provide emergency assistance and coordinate search efforts.
