Chandigarh: Cabinet Minister and AAP Punjab President Aman Arora declared that the extradition of wanted gangster Amritpal Singh alias Amrit Dalam from Moldova underscores the state administration’s firm stance against organized crime. Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, the Minister maintained that previous political regimes permitted criminal networks to expand, noting that current enforcement strategies actively track fugitives across foreign jurisdictions. He affirmed that since its establishment in January 2026, the state’s Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) has successfully secured the return of 10 fugitives from countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, the UAE, the USA, and Moldova.
State authorities confirmed that 21 additional extradition proposals remain pending with central agencies as local law enforcement continues coordinating with international bodies like Interpol, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the National Investigation Agency. Minister Arora asserted that state agencies are actively dismantling cross-border extortion rings utilizing encrypted communication networks. He further called for enhanced inter-state vigilance, urging central and state governments to restrict criminal syndicates operating from correctional institutions in neighboring jurisdictions to maintain regional peace and public security.
