Chandigarh: The state government’s ongoing campaigns against organised crime and narcotics networks have yielded major international law enforcement breakthroughs, with specialized teams securing the return of over a dozen foreign-based operatives. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu stated during a press conference in Chandigarh that recent enforcement drives, including targeted anti-gangster initiatives, demonstrate that fugitive elements can no longer operate with impunity abroad. He highlighted the recent arrest of Karamveer Singh alias Karamveer Deo, a key associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, who was taken into custody at Delhi airport following deportation from Canada.

Pannu maintained that modern technology upgrades and enhanced intelligence gathering have significantly strengthened the operational capability of law enforcement agencies. Addressing past law and order challenges, he asserted that gangster networks expanded considerably during previous governance tenures, whereas the present administration prioritizes active international cooperation to apprehend fugitives across various global jurisdictions. He added that preventive intelligence recently helped intercept planned criminal actions in Ludhiana, affirming that law enforcement units remain fully equipped to maintain public safety.
