Baghpat, Sept 19: Baghpat is preparing to showcase its traditional handloom weaving and agricultural products on an international platform at the fourth Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, scheduled from September 25 to 29 at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. More than twenty exporters, One District One Product producers, MSMEs, and women entrepreneurs from the district will set up over twenty stalls during the event. A primary focus of the district display includes Baghpat Home Furnishing items, which received Geographical Indication tag recognition in June 2023, represented by the Master Weavers Cooperative Society of Khekra alongside local honey producers like Ambrosia Naturals.

The GI-tagged home furnishing range, developed through generations of handloom weaving in the Khekra region, includes cotton bedsheets, curtains, tablecloths, and running fabrics produced on frame looms. Across the trade show venue, four new exporters from the district have secured five dedicated stalls in Hall 14, while additional local producers will occupy stalls under the ODOP category in Hall 9. Further representation includes MSMEs, youth, and women-led enterprises, alongside agricultural initiatives such as Baghpat Bloom Millets.

Deputy Commissioner Industries Rajendra Singh stated that the international trade show offers significant global exposure for district businesses, noting strong participation from regional entrepreneurs. The event will also highlight local culinary traditions through the One District One Cuisine initiative, featuring sweets like Ghevar from Aminagar Sarai and Baghpat Balushahi. Representatives and buyers from multiple countries, including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Thailand, and Austria, are scheduled to attend the exhibition.
