AAP Seeks Congress Removal from INDIA Bloc

New Delhi, 26 December 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the expulsion of Congress from the INDIA bloc, accusing it of colluding with the BJP. AAP leaders are set to engage with alliance partners to press for this demand, following escalating tensions between the two parties.

AAP sources voiced frustration over Congress leaders’ recent comments and a complaint filed by the Youth Congress against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. The complaint, lodged at the Parliament Street police station, accused Kejriwal of misleading voters and engaging in fraudulent activities, particularly through poll promises invalidated by two Delhi Government departments.

“We will approach INDIA bloc partners to demand the Congress’ removal. Their actions show they are working in tandem with the BJP,” alleged an AAP leader.

The dispute gained momentum on Wednesday when two Delhi Government departments issued public notices disowning registration drives for two welfare schemes announced by the AAP. The notices, published in newspapers, warned the public against sharing personal information for the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana, calling the registration process “fraudulent and unauthorized.”

Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, AAP promised Rs 2,100 in monthly assistance to women if re-elected, while the Sanjeevani Yojana pledged comprehensive health coverage for senior citizens. The Women and Child Development and Health Departments, however, declared these schemes “non-existent,” advising caution against sharing details under the pretext of registration.

Dismissing the notices as “fake and baseless,” AAP said administrative and legal action would be taken against officials responsible for their publication. Kejriwal accused the BJP of pressuring Delhi government officials to undermine his initiatives.

“The BJP is rattled by the popularity of these schemes and is using pressure tactics to prevent Delhiites from benefiting,” Kejriwal said, adding that the Delhi Cabinet had already approved the financial aid plan, and a notification had been issued.

The controversy has deepened existing strains between AAP and Congress within the INDIA bloc, raising questions about the alliance’s future cohesion.
