ACB at Kejriwal’s Home as LG Orders Probe Into BJP Poaching Claim

New Delhi, 7 February 2025 – A team from Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) reached AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s residence after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena ordered an inquiry into the former chief minister’s allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to poach 16 AAP candidates.

Kejriwal, on Thursday, accused the BJP of offering ₹15 crore and ministerial positions to AAP candidates in exchange for switching sides. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and other senior AAP leaders also backed these claims.

AAP’s legal cell president, Sanjeev Nasiar, questioned the ACB’s actions, alleging a political conspiracy. “They have no authorization to take action. They were speaking to someone over the phone, seemingly receiving instructions. They had no documents and were unaware that Sanjay Singh was already at the ACB office to file a complaint. This is a BJP-led political drama,” Nasiar said.

‘AAP Trying to Create Panic,’ Says BJP

The inquiry followed a complaint from Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal to the LG, dismissing AAP’s allegations as “false and baseless.” The BJP claimed the accusations were aimed at damaging its reputation and creating unrest in Delhi post-polling.

BJP leaders also warned of legal action against AAP leaders if they failed to produce evidence. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal and Singh of “losing mental balance” and announced plans to approach the ACB with a counter-complaint.

“If they don’t provide evidence, they will face legal consequences. Atishi is already out on bail in a similar case. Kejriwal had previously apologized to our leaders, and now it’s the turn of other AAP leaders. BJP will form a double-engine government in Delhi,” Sachdeva said.
