CM Lays Foundation Stones for Projects Worth ₹19.55 Crore in Dharamsala

Dharamsala, 18 January 2025: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched five developmental projects worth ₹19.55 crore in Dharamsala on the first day of his winter sojourn in Kangra district.

He inaugurated a 750 kW on-grid solar power plant in Kand Uparli, built at a cost of ₹4.74 crore, and a new women’s police station constructed for ₹4.83 crore. Additionally, Sukhu opened a Zila Parishad building completed at ₹3.16 crore and a hostel for the Regional Mountaineering Centre built at a cost of ₹3.42 crore. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the ₹3.40 crore Dhauladhar food street market project.

“The development of Kangra is a priority. Visits like these enable us to better understand local challenges and address them effectively,” said Sukhu during an interaction with the media.

Looking ahead, Sukhu announced that the foundation stone for a modern milk processing facility worth ₹250 crore would be laid at Dhangwar during this visit. He emphasized the government’s efforts to boost the rural economy, mentioning schemes for natural farming and procurement initiatives.

“Cow milk is being purchased at ₹45 per litre and buffalo milk at ₹55 per litre. Similarly, natural farming produce, such as maize and wheat, is procured at ₹30 and ₹40 per kilogram, respectively,” he stated. This year, the state procured 4,000 metric tons of maize grown using natural farming techniques.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the wage hike under MGNREGA, with daily wages increasing by ₹60, from ₹240 to ₹300 per day, signaling further efforts to uplift the rural population.

During his visit, Sukhu received a warm reception from Congress workers and local residents. He heard public grievances and instructed officials to prioritize their resolution. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, and other prominent leaders, including MLAs and government officials, were present to welcome the Chief Minister.
