“Death an Illusion”: US Woman Clinically Dead for 8 Minutes

Colorado, June 9: A 33-year-old woman from Colorado, declared clinically dead for eight minutes, has shared a remarkable near-death experience that she says completely transformed her understanding of life, death, and existence.

Brianna Lafferty, who suffers from myoclonus dystonia, a rare neurological condition, said her body suddenly shut down — an episode that took her to what she describes as a realm beyond time and form.

“I was suddenly separated from my physical body,” she recalled. “I did not see or remember my human self. I was completely still, yet I felt fully alive, aware, and more myself than ever before.”

In her account, published by the Daily Star on May 23, Brianna described her consciousness entering what she called a timeless realm. She said she felt peace, clarity, and love, in stark contrast to the pain that defined her physical existence.

“There was no pain, just a deep sense of peace and understanding,” she said. “I met other beings—not quite human, but somehow familiar. Time did not exist, yet everything made perfect sense.”

A voice, she said, asked if she was ready, before she plunged into darkness and then “floated” into a realm where thoughts manifested instantly and negativity could be transformed. “I experienced the beginning of everything,” Brianna said. “And I learned that our universe is made up of numbers.”

The insights from the experience had a profound psychological effect, stripping away her fears and shifting her sense of purpose. “What I feared no longer had power over me, and what I used to chase did not seem important anymore,” she said. “I came back with a sense of mission and deep reverence for both life and death.”

Upon her return, Brianna faced daunting physical hurdles. She had to relearn how to walk and talk, and also underwent experimental brain surgery to address damage to her pituitary gland. The surgery, according to her, has shown promising results.

Still, she sees her struggles not as setbacks, but as critical elements in her broader journey. “Everything is so crystal clear as to why I suffered with illness and other tough struggles,” she said. “There is knowledge that everything does really happen for a reason.”

While she admits to being somewhat afraid of enduring another near-death experience, her fear stems more from the arduous physical recovery than the spiritual transition itself.

“I saw that death is not an end but a continuation,” Brianna concluded. “It’s not something to fear. In fact, it’s a return to truth.”
