Chandigarh, October 23, 2024 — Delhi Chief Minister Atishi arrived in Chandigarh late last night on a personal visit. However, party sources revealed that several AAP ministers and leaders are expected to meet her today to discuss pressing matters in Punjab.
With Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann scheduled to visit Nangal for a major parent-teacher meeting around noon, the AAP leadership plans to brief Atishi, one of the party’s senior leaders, on critical issues including paddy procurement, stubble burning, and the state’s financial situation.
“The challenge of slow paddy procurement, particularly the reluctance of rice millers to process PR126 and hybrid varieties, has become a significant issue in Punjab’s agrarian landscape,” said a party insider. This issue, among others, is expected to be brought to Atishi’s attention during her stay.
Given her experience handling Delhi’s Finance Department, Atishi is also likely to be updated on Punjab’s “depleting fiscal health.” The state’s financial challenges have become a growing concern within the party, and her insights may be sought on potential solutions.
The discussions are expected to focus on these key challenges affecting Punjab’s governance and economic stability.
