Zirakpur, February 4 – Police arrested four transgenders for allegedly snatching ₹60,000 from an air force officer near a mall on VIP Road in Zirakpur.
The accused were identified as Mahi of Ambala, Ibadat of Barwala, Panchkula, and Sarki and Seerat, both residents of Lalru, Punjab. They were booked under Section 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Zirakpur police station.
According to police, the complainant, 32-year-old Ashok Kumar of Takhatgarh, Rajasthan, had returned home on holiday and was visiting Zirakpur for personal work on Sunday. He had arrived in a friend’s car and stopped near the mall around midnight.
“Kumar had gone to a toilet near the mall. When he stepped out, the accused intercepted him, forcibly took him to a secluded area, and snatched ₹60,000 from his pocket while issuing threats before fleeing,” a police official said.
The suspects were apprehended the same day, police added.
