Dehradun/Chamoli, October 9, 2024: Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (retd) visited the revered Sri Hemkunt Sahib shrine in Chamoli on Wednesday, where he offered prayers for the prosperity, progress, and development of Uttarakhand.
Upon arrival, the Governor was warmly welcomed by Chairman of Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, Narinderjit Singh Bindra, Gurdwara Manager Sewa Singh, and district administration officials.
During his visit, he interacted with members of the Gurdwara Management Committee and congratulated the devotees present at the shrine. “The lessons of simplicity, humility, kindness, and service taught by the true saint Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji serve as invaluable guidance,” the Governor remarked.
He expressed his joy at visiting the holy site and the warmth extended to him by the Sangats, stating, “I am very happy with the love and blessings received from all the Sangats.”
The Governor praised the recent infrastructural developments in the area, noting the well-constructed footpaths and helipads designed to enhance the convenience of pilgrims.
He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for laying the foundation stone for a ropeway that will connect Kedarnath and Hemkunt Sahib.
“With the construction of the ropeway, the journey to Hemkunt will be very pleasant in the coming days,” he added.
Officials present during the visit included Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust President Narendrajit Singh Bindra, Gurdwara Manager Sewa Singh, SP Sarvesh Panwar, Chief Development Officer Nandan Kumar, and Deputy District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Vashish, among others.
