New Delhi/ Chandigarh, Nov 7, 2024: Haryana Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam inaugurated the Walkathon organized by India Scouts and Guides at India Gate, New Delhi on Thursday for empowering the youth of the country and fostering a vision of a developed India through the spirit of sports.
Addressing the participants, Minister Gautam praised the youth as the nation’s pride, urging them to stay healthy, avoid drugs, and bring glory to the nation by excelling in national and international sports.
“Our youth are the future of the nation, and they should focus on their health, contribute to the nation’s sporting achievements, and shine on global platforms,” he said.
The Minister also mentioned the robust sports policy formulated by the Haryana government under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
He noted that the policy is yielding positive results at the grassroots level, with Haryana’s youth raising the Indian flag in the Olympics, World Championships, Asian, and Commonwealth Games.
Gautam encouraged the youth to engage in sports alongside their academic pursuits, stressing that it helps build leadership qualities and strengthens national unity. “Sports not only promote physical health but also cultivate values of discipline and leadership,” he added.
The event also marked a significant milestone—the Diamond Jubilee celebration of India Scouts and Guides.
“Today is a historic moment as we come together to celebrate 75 years of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. This walkathon symbolizes a commitment to change and progress,” said Minister Gautam.
The Minister extended his congratulations to the 65 lakh members of Bharat Scouts and Guides, calling their participation a reflection of their unwavering dedication to nation-building and service.
