Chandigarh, 28 October 2024: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has adopted a firm stance in the Lawrence interview case, directing the DGP of Punjab to submit an affidavit explaining the claim that the interview did not occur within Punjab.
According to reports, during the hearing, the court raised concerns over why Lawrence was repeatedly transferred to Punjab, despite the ongoing investigation.
The High Court criticized the action taken, which targeted the DSP and a constable, but left out the SSP.
The court also pointed out that while the SIT has identified the location of the interview, it has yet to disclose its purpose.
High Court officials have granted SIT leader Prabodh Kumar another opportunity to clarify the details of the interview, with a reconstituted SIT now under his leadership.
