Chandigarh, May 4: The Punjab Police has integrated advanced Artificial Intelligence and a massive criminal database to strengthen its operations against organized crime and narcotics. Baltej Pannu, the Aam Aadmi Party Punjab State Media In-charge, declared that the force now monitors over 390,000 active criminals worldwide. This digital shift includes a specialized voice bank containing samples from 84,000 suspects, allowing authorities to identify and locate offenders in a matter of minutes.
These technological updates are central to the state’s ongoing security initiatives, specifically the campaigns targeting gangs and drug trafficking. Baltej Pannu affirmed that the police force has become fully high-tech under the current administration’s guidance to ensure public safety. He noted that the effectiveness of these tools was recently proven during the investigation into the Shambhu blast, where the module was exposed and all suspects were apprehended.
“All these arrests were made possible with the help of this technology,” Baltej Pannu asserted while discussing the Shambhu case. He stated that the arrested individuals confessed to their roles in both the recent incident and previous explosions. The media in-charge maintained that the voice recognition system serves as a critical deterrent, making it nearly impossible for disruptors to remain hidden.
The state also continues its sustained efforts against the narcotics trade. The anti-drug campaign has remained active for 427 consecutive days, resulting in significant seizures and the destruction of trafficking networks. Baltej Pannu stated that the government is utilizing its “peela panja” to target properties and mansions built with illicit funds. He declared that these actions will persist until the drug menace is entirely removed from the state, warning that those attempting to disturb the peace will be tracked down regardless of where they hide.
