CHANDIGARH, June 9 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday distributed appointment letters to 355 young candidates, elevating the total number of public sector jobs allocated under the current administration to 67,037. Speaking at a state-level function, the Chief Minister asserted that the selection process operates strictly on administrative transparency and academic merit, effectively eliminating the historic practice of political patronage, bribes, and recommendations.
The Chief Minister noted that the integrity of Punjab’s recruitment system stands out at a time when national-level examinations are facing severe structural disruptions. He stated that while approximately 93 examination papers have been leaked across the country since 2017, demoralizing millions of students, Punjab has maintained a clean record without a single paper leak since 2022.
The latest induction ceremony included newly selected personnel across multiple key branches, including the departments of Technical Education, Cooperation, Local Government, Water Supply and Sanitation, Animal Husbandry, Public Works, and Housing and Urban Development. Addressing the new recruits, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared:
“Today, 355 more youths were handed appointment letters, taking the total number of government jobs provided so far to 67,037. All these jobs have been given purely on the basis of merit and transparency. At a time when papers like NEET are being leaked across the country, Punjab has set an example by ensuring honest recruitment and securing the top position in the nation in the field of education.”
The Chief Minister maintained that the state is successfully executing structural reforms to create a sustainable local economy that reverses the trend of youth migration. He announced that the government is introducing two distinct legislations designed to end the contractor-based employment model, providing a secure pathway to regularize approximately 65,000 contractual and outsourced workers directly into state service after specific periods of continuous employment.
Reviewing the educational advancements achieved under the state’s Sikhya Kranti initiative, the Chief Minister maintained that Punjab has risen to the top rank in school education according to NITI Aayog evaluations. He stated that the government has established 118 Schools of Eminence to provide advanced competitive coaching to students from ordinary backgrounds, while simultaneously modernizing technical infrastructure through the construction of 25 new Industrial Training Institutes and upgrading 13 existing vocational hubs.
