SANGRUR, May 12 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann joined the Sangat at Gurdwara Jyotisar Sahib on Monday for the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, expressing gratitude for the enactment of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026. The Chief Minister stated that the new legislation serves as a definitive deterrent against the desecration of the holy scripture, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people.

The Chief Minister noted that the implementation of this act has provided significant satisfaction to the global Sikh community. He maintained that the harsher punishments introduced through the amendment would ensure that no individual attempts to commit sacrilege in the future. During the religious gathering, Mann offered Ardas for the prosperity of the state and the realization of a vibrant Punjab.

“Today, I had the privilege of bowing in reverence during the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at the historic Gurdwara Sri Jyotisar Sahib,” the Chief Minister affirmed. Mann declared that he felt blessed to have been granted the opportunity to serve the state by passing such a stringent law. He asserted that the legislation deeply resonates with public sentiment, leading to various thanksgiving ceremonies being organized across the state.

Transitioning to national matters, the Chief Minister criticized the Union Government, alleging that major domestic policy decisions are increasingly influenced by foreign interests. He stated that the country is witnessing a shift where directions appear to originate from the White House. Mann further noted that central agencies are being utilized to intimidate political rivals, particularly through recent enforcement actions in Punjab.

“The brave and wise people of Punjab will give a befitting reply to these attempts,” Mann asserted while addressing the media. He declared that the residents of the state have a history of resisting pressure tactics and will protect democratic values against any perceived overreach by central authorities.
