SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB, May 12 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann addressed a massive Lok Milni at village Saahib Chand on Sunday, receiving a warm welcome from residents of the Gidderbaha constituency. During the public interaction, the Chief Minister declared that his administration will not allow divisive forces to disturb the state’s communal harmony or social fabric for political gain.

The Chief Minister stated that Punjab’s spiritual and cultural heritage stands as a firm barrier against hatred and polarization. He noted that the state is a sacred land of Gurus and saints who promoted mutual love and tolerance. Mann maintained that while Punjab’s soil is fertile enough to grow anything, it can never nurture animosity between communities.

“Punjab has a very fertile land and anything can germinate on it except hatred and animosity,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He stated that it is essential for Punjabis to unite against those attempting to push the state back into “dark days” through communal tension.

Mann also discussed the legal advancements made under his government, specifically the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. He stated that the law was designed to plug loopholes that allowed sacrilege accused to escape justice by claiming mental instability. Mann affirmed that the new provisions hold guardians and caretakers accountable, ensuring strict legal consequences for such offenses.

“There will be no bail for at least ten years and in severe cases punishment can extend up to life imprisonment,” the Chief Minister declared. He asserted that this legislation fulfills a deep public desire for justice and acts as a deterrent for the future.
