Amritsar, Sept 23: Amritsar Commissionerate Police conducted an early morning Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Patti Bagge Wali area under the Verka police station jurisdiction on Wednesday to curb drug trafficking. Executed by teams from Zone-3 and the East Sub-Division, the exercise resulted in official action taken against 13 individuals.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Jaskaranjit Singh Teja affirmed that two separate cases were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to the immediate arrest of the offenders. Furthermore, five individuals identified as drug addicts were referred to specialized rehabilitation centres to receive necessary medical care and support.
Police officials declared that information regarding the localized supply network is being gathered to apprehend key figures in the drug trade. DCP Teja maintained that structured search operations will continue across designated vulnerable areas to ensure law and order.
