Chandigarh, 9 October, 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government appointed KAP Sinha as the new chief secretary of Punjab on Wednesday, replacing Anurag Verma.
Sinha, a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Punjab cadre, will also serve as principal secretary for personnel, vigilance, and general administration.
He is known to have close ties with AAP leadership in New Delhi.
As the 43rd chief secretary of Punjab, Sinha was also a contender for the position in 2023 when Verma, a 1993-batch IAS officer, was appointed instead. Prior to this role, Sinha served as special chief secretary for revenue, rehabilitation, disaster management, and also for agriculture, farmers’ welfare, horticulture, and soil and water conservation.
Verma will now take over the responsibilities previously held by Sinha.
