CHANDIGARH, MAY 5 — The Punjab government on Wednesday executed a significant administrative reshuffle, appointing new Deputy Commissioners in two districts and reassigning Senior Superintendents of Police across four districts. The state government issued these orders with immediate effect, stating that the move is designed to accelerate administrative efficiency and bolster the state’s law and order machinery.
According to the official communication, Poonamdeep Kaur has been designated as the new Deputy Commissioner of Sangrur, while Rahul Chaba will take over the administrative responsibilities as Deputy Commissioner of Faridkot. Government officials affirmed that these changes aim to ensure greater transparency and speed in public service delivery at the district level.
The restructuring also extended to the police department, with the appointment of new district chiefs in Sangrur, Moga, Fazilka, and Malerkotla. Ravjot Grewal has been posted as the Senior Superintendent of Police for Sangrur, and Sirtaj Singh Chahal will lead the police administration in Moga. Furthermore, Gagan Ajit Singh has been assigned the role of SSP Fazilka, while Gurmeet Singh will take charge in Malerkotla.
“The SSPs have been changed in many districts so that a new tone can be given to the police arrangements at the district level,” an official statement affirmed. The administration maintained that these strategic placements are part of a broader effort to refine the functioning of the state’s executive and security wings.
