Chandigarh, 11 December 2024: The Punjab government has introduced new guidelines for playway schools to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Announcing the measures, Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur underscored the importance of adequate play areas, mandatory installation of cameras, and secure school boundaries.
The guidelines also mandate separate toilets for boys and girls and restrict one teacher to a maximum of 20 children. Dr. Kaur urged parents to enroll their children only in registered playway schools for better regulation and accountability.
Bringing out the need for child protection, she stated that slapping or scolding young children is strictly prohibited, adding that teachers found guilty of such behavior would face legal consequences. The new measures aim to create a safer and nurturing environment for children in early education.
