GHAZIABAD, July 18 — Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath affirmed that no compromise will be tolerated regarding security, cleanliness, or traffic management during the upcoming Shravan month Kanwar Yatra. Reviewing the preparations with police and administrative officials of the Meerut and Saharanpur divisions at the Mahatma Gandhi Auditorium, Collectorate, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to maintain a high state of vigilance throughout the event.
The administration has been instructed to initiate immediate and strict action against anti-social elements attempting to spread rumours on social media platforms, with orders to promptly counter any misleading information. To ensure comprehensive surveillance, the Chief Minister declared that CCTV cameras must be installed at all key locations alongside continuous monitoring via drones. The Divisional Commissioners of Meerut and Saharanpur have been tasked with regularly reviewing these preparations to ensure seamless execution.
The state government is prioritizing structural and operational harmony by maintaining continuous coordination with neighbouring states, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, to handle any situation effectively. Specific guidelines have been issued regarding the sound levels of DJs and the physical height of the Kanwars to ensure they remain within the prescribed standards so that traffic movement is not obstructed. Officials maintained that a continuous dialogue is being observed with DJ operators, Kanwar manufacturers, and various Kanwar associations to keep the operations orderly.
The Public Works Department and the Irrigation Department have been directed to make all yatra routes pothole-free well in time and clear any obstructive bushes. Public facilities at the Kanwar camps are being organized to provide adequate street lighting, clean drinking water, toilets, electricity, and fresh, satvik food. Additionally, the Chief Minister asserted that all meat and liquor shops along the designated Kanwar Yatra route must remain closed, mandating continuous monitoring to ensure full compliance with the directive.
Public safety measures extend across multiple departments, with the Transport Department instructed to ensure that no driver operates a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, the Power Department is closely monitoring transformers and electricity lines to prevent any potential accidents. The administration concluded that continuous coordination is being maintained with public representatives to ensure the immediate resolution of local issues, while welcome gates and hoardings are being installed for the pilgrims with the support of the Information Department.
