SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr), February 4 – The District Administration of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS Nagar), in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE), has launched Mission Pragati, a free crash course aimed at equipping local youth for competitive exams conducted by the Punjab and central governments.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Mehtab Singh inaugurated the initiative, which aligns with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of youth empowerment and equal opportunities.
The program will offer specialized coaching for exams such as Police, Army, Agniveer, Punjab Civil Services, and banking recruitments, according to reports.
Training will be conducted at Government ITI Nawanshahr, integrating both written and physical preparation under one roof.
“Our goal is to ensure no aspirant is held back due to a lack of resources or guidance,” said Deputy Commissioner Dhiman.
“This initiative not only prepares candidates for exams but also promotes fitness, discipline, and productivity among the youth.”
The coaching will be provided by Gyanm Coaching Institute, a reputed training center in northern India. The first batch will consist of 35 students from SBS Nagar, who will receive study materials, expert coaching, and guidance on physical requirements essential for these exams. Serving officers will also be invited to mentor participants.
In addition, the district will soon inaugurate a fully air-conditioned library at Baradari Bagh, offering free Wi-Fi, newspapers, and a collection of competitive exam books. Another library at the DBEE District Administrative Complex is already operational, providing study resources for aspirants.
Calling Mission Pragati a “game-changer,” Dr. Mehtab Singh noted that many candidates often seek guidance on exam criteria, and this initiative will serve as a comprehensive support system for them.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr. Akshita Gupta, who will serve as the nodal officer for the program, and District Employment Officer Sandeep Kumar were also present at the launch.
