Amritsar, 24 October, 2024: Amritsar police arrested two alleged gangsters early Thursday morning following an encounter that left one suspect injured. The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. near Taran Wala Pul, where the suspects had previously fired several shots outside the home of a soda maker, Jasdeep Singh, also known as Sajan, approximately four days prior.
Portugal-based gangster Mann Ghanshampuria claimed responsibility for the attack, which is believed to be linked to gang rivalry. Although police remained tight-lipped about the details, a police official confirmed the arrests.
The encounter began when police received a tip-off about the suspects hiding in the New Amritsar area as they attempted to flee to Tarn Taran. Upon locating them, the accused allegedly fired at the pursuing police officers. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was injured, while the other initially escaped into the darkness but was apprehended later.
Authorities seized two pistols from the gangsters’ possession.
