New Delhi, April 15: — UAE Deputy Chief of Mission Majid Alnekhelavi met Ajay Mishra, Resident Commissioner of Uttarakhand, on Tuesday to explore investment opportunities between the UAE and the hill state. The meeting, held at the UAE Embassy in Uttarakhand Niwas, focused on strengthening economic cooperation across critical sectors.

Mishra highlighted Uttarakhand’s emergence as a rising investment destination following the success of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023. He noted that improved law and order, modern infrastructure, and streamlined policies have boosted investor confidence, attracting both domestic and global interest.

Emphasising shared growth prospects, Mishra pitched alternative energy, renewable energy, and knowledge cities as sectors ripe for collaboration. He also flagged major corridor projects in the state as long-term investment avenues that could benefit both partners.

A short promotional film showcased opportunities in tourism, wellness, biotechnology, food processing, road connectivity, and local women-led production initiatives—demonstrating the state’s focus on inclusive and sustainable development.

India and the UAE, which established diplomatic relations in 1972, have maintained strong trade ties, further boosted by the UAE’s rise as a regional economic hub and India’s liberalisation in the 1990s. The Indian community, forming 35% of the UAE’s population, continues to play a crucial role in deepening economic and cultural bonds.

Both sides expressed optimism about future cooperation, reinforcing the strength of India-UAE ties.
