New Delhi, 3 Dec. 24 – Hours before farmers began their march from Noida to New Delhi, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar extended an olive branch to the agitating community, reaffirming his commitment to open communication. Addressing farmers across the nation, Dhankhar urged them to seek resolutions through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Speaking on Sunday at an event commemorating the 138th birth anniversary of Raja Mahendra Pratap, Dhankhar reflected on the significance of agriculture in the nation’s development. “We must remember, we don’t fight or deceive our own. Deception is for the enemy; our own are to be embraced,” he said. Expressing urgency, he added, “How can one sleep peacefully when farmers’ issues remain unresolved? I am pleased that Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chouhan has already initiated discussions, and we are actively working on solutions. Dialogue and mutual understanding are the path forward.”
The Vice-President warned against adopting rigid or confrontational positions, calling such approaches “poor diplomacy.” He stressed the need for open-minded discussions, stating, “This country, deeply rooted in its rural heritage, belongs to all of us. I am confident my words will resonate with my farmer brothers, no matter where they are protesting, and inspire a convergence of positive energy for swift resolution.”
Dhankhar reflected on the broader implications of unresolved agricultural concerns, linking them to the nation’s honor. “When farmers are distressed, it tarnishes the pride of the nation. A developed India is built on the foundation of its farmland. The path forward must be right, and solutions must come swiftly,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to addressing grievances, Dhankhar pledged, “My doors are open 24 hours a day to resolve farmers’ problems.”
His remarks coincided with the march led by the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and other farmer organizations, pressing demands such as a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP). BKP leaders initiated their protest under Noida’s Maha Maya Flyover, heading towards Delhi.
The protest has prompted Noida police to issue a traffic advisory, cautioning commuters about expected congestion throughout the day.
