Lucknow, 19 January 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commended the SVAMITVA scheme on Saturday, citing its transformative role in empowering rural communities across the state.

Speaking on its impact, he stated, “Over 45 lakh individuals in Uttar Pradesh, across 45,501 Gram Panchayats, have benefited, with 45,35,000 houses receiving property rights.”

Adityanath extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials, and volunteers, adding, “I congratulate the beneficiaries who have secured ownership of their properties. Under the scheme, 55.14 lakh property cards were previously distributed in 37,800 villages across Uttar Pradesh.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi distributed over 65 lakh property cards to rural property owners spanning ten states and two union territories.

The SVAMITVA initiative, launched on April 24, 2020, aims to provide accurate ownership records for properties in rural Abadi areas through advanced drone and GIS technology.

The scheme has drastically reduced land disputes while enabling monetization of rural properties, facilitating access to institutional credit, and aiding in property tax assessment.

A government official noted that “drone surveys have been completed in 92% of targeted villages, covering over 3.17 lakh villages, with 2.25 crore property cards prepared for 1.53 lakh villages.”

The initiative has reached full saturation in Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. It has also achieved significant progress in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, alongside several union territories.

By providing a “Record of Rights,” the scheme strengthens rural governance and promotes village-level planning, marking a significant milestone in India’s development journey.
