Patna, 19 January 2025: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has appointed Tejashwi Yadav to spearhead the party’s preparations for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
In a key move, the RJD’s national executive committee passed a resolution in Patna on Saturday, granting him authority to oversee internal affairs and devise the party’s electoral strategy.
Senior leaders, including MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Misa Bharti, attended the meeting.
Speaking to reporters afterward, Tejashwi Yadav acknowledged the trust placed in him, saying, “The responsibilities given to me are immense. I will work to meet the expectations of party leaders.”
Yadav outlined his vision for Bihar, emphasizing the need for collective efforts. “Our focus is on strengthening the party organization at every level, from panchayats to the top. Only when we are strong and accountable can we serve the state and achieve victory in the polls,” he said.
He also announced that RJD’s organizational elections would conclude by July 5, followed by an open convention at Bapu Sabhagar.
Promising a “new and developed Bihar,” Yadav cited the party’s performance during its 17 months in power, claiming achievements unmatched in the last 18 years.
He pledged to ensure that all communities benefit under RJD’s leadership, adding, “Our membership drive will gain momentum soon, and we are committed to delivering progress and inclusivity.”
Tejashwi Yadav also took a sharp jab at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over comments made during the state-wide “Pragati Yatra” in Begusarai.
Kumar had remarked on improved women’s fashion since taking office, a statement Yadav described as “insulting to Bihar’s daughters.”
“Does the CM think he’s a women’s fashion designer? The women of Bihar have always dressed with self-respect and self-reliance,” Yadav said, adding that Kumar’s remarks reflected a failure to respect women.
“Nitish Kumar is tired and incapable of running the state,” he asserted.
With elections drawing closer, Yadav’s increased role signifies a turning point for RJD’s campaign strategy. The party is set to challenge Nitish Kumar’s administration while focusing on its promise of a more inclusive and progressive Bihar.
