Ludhiana, March 18 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday dedicated the newly renovated Civil Hospital in Ludhiana to the public, promising improved healthcare services with ultramodern facilities.
“This upgraded hospital will provide world-class healthcare to the people of Ludhiana and beyond,” Kejriwal said at the inauguration, while Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure.
The hospital, revamped through efforts by the Punjab government and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, now boasts a fully modular orthopedic operation theatre, built at a cost of nearly ₹1 crore. The facility is equipped with advanced surgical instruments, enabling complex orthopedic procedures with higher precision.
“We have ensured that this hospital is equipped with the latest technology and provides a safe, sterile environment for better patient outcomes,” Mann said.
To enhance patient comfort and hygiene, all washrooms in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Unit, and Inpatient Wards have been renovated with upgraded fixtures, anti-slip flooring, and efficient drainage systems. The hospital has also introduced 500 new high-quality bed sheets and installed five 80-litre water coolers to provide purified drinking water.
The infrastructure overhaul includes the refurbishment of all essential civil works, repair of deteriorated surfaces, and waterproofing of terraces to prevent seepage. Two old lifts, non-functional for 12 years, have been restored, while damaged lights and fans have been replaced with energy-efficient models.
In the outdoor premises, all dilapidated roads have been reconstructed, and parking areas have been paved with high-quality blocks. A 5,000-square-foot shed has been built to serve as a sheltered waiting area for patients and their attendants.
To enhance aesthetics, new tiles have been laid on sidewalls throughout the hospital, and a comprehensive horticulture program has been launched to add greenery. The main gate has been structurally reinforced, and a cattle trap has been installed at the entrance to prevent stray animal intrusion.
Mann said the renovation reflects his government’s resolve to transform public healthcare services. “This hospital will serve as a model for providing quality medical care to every citizen,” he added.
