Ambala, March 30 — Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Saturday directed Ambala IG Sibash Kabiraj to investigate allegations against travel agents accused of duping a man from Ambala Cantonment with a false job offer in Dubai.
The matter came to Vij’s attention during a public grievance hearing at his Ambala residence, where a woman from Khatik Mandi approached him. She claimed that her son had been sent to Dubai by two agents on the pretext of a good job but was instead forced into labour work, which severely impacted his health.
“The woman alleged that the agents confiscated her son’s passport and other documents,” Vij’s office said in a statement. “When she tried to contact them, they demanded ₹1.5 lakh, which she paid. However, her son was still not allowed to return.”
Following the complaint, Vij directed the Ambala IG to launch a probe into the accused agents and take strict action.
