Happy Birthday KL Rahul: Indian cricket team’s star wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul is celebrating his 33rd birthday today. Born on 18 April 1992 in Mangaluru, Karnataka, Rahul has created a distinct identity in Indian cricket with his performance and calm nature. He always stays away from controversies and makes headlines with his performance on the field. In the recently concluded Champions Trophy, Rahul played an important role in India’s victory by performing brilliantly. He has also been called the ‘silent hero’ of India’s victory in this tournament.

Dream of becoming a player since childhood

Rahul was interested in sports since childhood. In cricket, he considers Rahul Dravid as his idol, while in terms of style, he is a fan of England’s legendary footballer David Beckham. He likes to look stylish, and perhaps this is the reason why he has many tattoos on his body like Beckham. His love for tattoos started at the age of 15. He got his first tattoo done by hiding it from his family. When his mother came to know about this, she got very angry and did not even talk to Rahul for some time.

Excellent record in international cricket

KL Rahul made his international cricket debut in 2014. Since then, he has performed brilliantly for India in all three formats. He has played 58 Tests, 85 ODIs and 72 international T20 matches.

◘Test cricket:

‣58 matches, 101 innings

‣3257 runs, average 33.58

‣8 centuries and 17 half-centuries

◘ODI cricket:

‣85 matches, 79 innings

‣3043 runs, average 49.08

‣7 centuries and 18 half-centuries

◘T20 International:

‣72 matches, 68 innings

‣2265 runs, average 37.75, strike rate 139.13

2 centuries and 22 half-centuries

A reliable player in every role

Rahul’s biggest specialty is that he is capable of playing in any batting order. In Test cricket, he started as an opener, while gradually he also made a place in the middle order in ODIs and T20s. When needed, he also played the role of wicketkeeper very well. Whether it is the swinging pitches of England or the fast and bouncy wickets of Australia, Rahul has accepted every challenge and pulled Team India out of trouble. He has started the innings and has also finished the match as a finisher many times.
